September Travels

What a beginning to the fall it has been...the weather has been fairly decent, Pat has been traveling since September 1st, and Football is back!

We have set aside the fishing rods for our shot guns and rifles (although we have a late-season halibut mission on the books this weekend) and waterfowl season opened here September 16th. Deer has been open since August 1st, and closes at the end of December.

Here is a look at what we have been up to....

At the beginning of September Pat spent 2 weeks down in Petersburg, Alaska at the LeConte Glacier recovering their field equipment that they installed in the beginning of May.

Pat got back from LeConte with 1 day to spend in Juneau before he flew to Anchorage for a conference, and we were able to hunt the Fall Waterfowl opener together before he flew out.
Barley retrieved all 9 birds that were shot....

Every so often we get these amazing Fireball sunsets....This was one evening early fall driving home.

After Pat got back from Anchorage, we again had one day of R & R, and then flew to Seattle for the Monday night Packer vs. Seahawks football game. Besides the WORST CALL IN HISTORY, the game was great!

Pat and I tailgating outside the Stadium. It was 70 degrees outside!

Grabbing a couple beers before the game.

After the football game, Pat flew to North Dakota for my family's annual waterfowl hunting trip.

Plucking ducks.

This past Wednesday Barley and I hiked up to Roberts Peak, 3800 feet up from sea level. We hit the current snowline, which has slowly started creeping down the mountains.

  1. Barley is ready for McKinnley, Pat is tuned up for the Wingmaster Mug and Jackie is ready to pull the trigger on her first Alaskan land animal. ;)

  2. As for the Packers, well, remember, they are entertainment, sometimes good, sometimes painful. It could be worse...like a Viking fan, never seeing the light of the Lombardi Trophy.
